Mahakali Swaroopini Seetha Sahasranaama by Lord Sri Ram [Adbhut Ramayan]
Mass Chanting/Singing held on 21.7.2014 at Shimoga
(Karnataka)
“Adbhut
Ramayan” by Sage Valmiki, inter-alia, contains the Mahakali Swaroopini Seetha
Sahasranaama, sung by none other than Lord Sri Ram Himself to appease and calm
down Seetha who had taken the ferocious, terrifying, breath-taking and
vicious form of Devi Mahakali to slain the 1000 headed Ravana of Pushkara
island. The singing of these auspicious Slokas (stanzas) fulfils all the
aspirations of the devotee besides leading him to the final abode of the
Almighty Himself.
These
Slokas were culled out from Adbhut Ramayan text and printed in a small book-let
form to facilitate easy chanting/singing by the devotees. The chanting/singing
of this Seetha Sahasranaama by a group of around 60 women was organized in the residence of Kavi Suresh
and family in Shimoga on 21st July 2014 followed by a ritualistic
worship of a beautiful idol of Devi Seetha [The programme was conceived and organised by Smt.Renuka Kavi Suresh]. *Perhaps this is the first time in
the whole of India that this Seetha Sahasranaama has been initiated for regular
chanting/singing, also known as “Paaraayana”. This has become quite popular especially among
women in this part and many of them have started its group Paaraayana in
Shimoga, Hassan and Chimagalur districts of Karnataka.
I should
acknowledge with gratitude my gratefulness to Sri Ajai Kumar Chawchharia of
Ayodhya, whose book, “Adbhut Ramayan by Sage Valmiki”, I had the privilege of
translating it to Kannada; these Slokas have been culled from that edition. He
has been the main spirit and inspiration behind all these works. I salute him
and through him Lord Sri Ram and Devi Seetha Maatha for involving me as an
instrument in this holy endeavour.
